We have been contacted by a promoter regarding a possible Stoxkarts weekend at Taunton and Bristol on the 10th/11th October.
At present there is no issue with Bristol itself, however it is obviously a long trip for many drivers if it was only a single meeting. Because of that, discussions are taking place around potentially running Taunton alongside Bristol as a full weekend.
Before we pursue anything further, we need honest feedback from drivers regarding Taunton.
For those that have not seen it before, Taunton is a concrete track rather than tarmac. The main concern raised is that the circuit has expansion joints where the concrete sections meet, similar to Crimond, which can make it feel bumpier than a normal tarmac oval.
That said, the overall surface itself is relatively smooth and we are hoping to arrange for somebody to test there to properly assess suitability before anything would ever be
confirmed.
It is also worth noting that Micro F2s and Rebels have raced there previously, despite running little or no suspension.
Although this discussion is currently regarding 2026, it could also potentially open up fixture opportunities for 2027 and beyond, possibly even as an alternative rotating weekend each year with Cowdenbeath
Taunton itself is regarded as a very good stadium with good facilities, so before anything progresses we simply need to know whether there would realistically be enough support from drivers to make it worthwhile pursuing.
Please vote in the poll below and add any constructive feedback in the comments.
Would you Race a Taunton & Bristol weekend?
0%I would race a Bristol only meeting
0%I would race at Taunton & Bristol
0%I would not race either

What would happen about the last grading period Ian ?
There would be 8 meetings in the last one when some have only had 4
And looking at the fixtures it would be difficult to change as most are weekenders.
Potentially unfair for drivers wanting to go for the GP with it having so many meetings in
