HOW JUNIORS GET STARTED

Junior Stoxkarts is designed to introduce young drivers into the world of short oval motorsport

Junior Stoxkarts follows a structured process to ensure all drivers are safe, prepared and ready to race.

Whether you are new to motorsport or already familiar with racing, the steps below outline what is required before a Junior driver can take part in an event.

A simple, structured process to get on track.
Step 1. Apply for a Junior Licence

All Junior drivers must hold a full Stoxkarts Junior Licence before taking part in any race events.

Applications must be submitted at least 7 days before your first planned meeting.

Day licences are not permitted for Junior drivers.

Step 2. Complete the Competence Test

All Junior drivers must complete the ORCi Junior Competence Test before racing.

This includes a written test covering flag signals and safety procedures, and an on-track driving assessment.

The test must be completed at least 24 hours before your first meeting.

Step 3. Go Racing.

Once approved, Junior drivers can take part in race meetings.

Events are structured, supervised and run with safety, fairness and driver development as the priority.

All Junior drivers must complete a Junior Driver Competence Test before being permitted to take part in a race meeting.

This is a mandatory ORCi requirement and applies across Junior oval racing formulas.

The test must be completed at least 24 hours before your first meeting.

ORCi Mandatory Competence Test

Junior Stoxkarts is built around safety, structure and consistency.

These steps ensure that every driver:

• Understands flag signals and safety procedures
• Can follow instructions from officials
• Is confident and in control on track

This is not about speed — it is about safety, awareness and control.

Why This Matters

JUNIOR COMPETENCE TEST

Before taking part in a race meeting, all Junior drivers must complete a competence assessment.

This ensures that every driver is safe, prepared and able to operate confidently on track.

What We Are Looking For

  • Drive in a controlled and safe manner

The focus is on safety, awareness and control at all times.

INFORMATION FOR PARENTS

ChatGPT Image Feb 2, 2026, 01_45_02 PM.png

We recognise that many Junior drivers and parents are completely new to motorsport, and it is important that everything is clearly understood before getting started.

Stoxkarts provides a structured and controlled environment where young drivers are introduced to racing in a safe and progressive way. Junior Stoxkarts is a limited contact formula. Racing is close, but controlled, with clear rules in place to maintain safety and standards.

All race meetings are organised with clear procedures, experienced officials and defined rules to ensure consistency and safety at all times.

Parents or guardians play an important role in supporting Junior drivers and must be present at all events, including any assessments or practice sessions.

Our aim is not just to get drivers on track, but to ensure they understand how the sport works and develop correctly from the beginning.

The formula is designed to develop drivers properly, and many have gone on to compete in other short oval racing formulas.

DOCUMENTS & NEXT STEPS

The documents below will help you prepare properly, simply click on the Icon to see the document.

Flags Form (SX/7)

All Junior drivers must understand flag signals before racing. This is part of the Competence Test.

These are used by officials to control races and communicate important safety instructions while on track.

Driver/Parent Handbook

Explains how Stoxkarts works, what to expect on race day, and the responsibilities of both drivers and parents.

We strongly recommend reading this before applying for a licence.

Once you are familiar with the process and requirements, you can begin your Stoxkarts journey.
