How Stoxkarts Works

Stoxkarts meetings are run on short oval tracks with a heats and feature final race format, designed to produce close, competitive racing while keeping costs and track time under control.

Drivers compete in qualifying races (heats) followed by a main feature final, with points awarded towards championship standings.

Race format

Each Stoxkarts meeting consists of a minimum of two heats and a feature final.

Junior heats are 10 laps and Senior heats are 12 laps.
The feature final is 12 laps for Juniors and 15 laps for Seniors.

All races use random grid positions within driver grades and are run as rolling starts.

Championship events may use different race formats or grid rules, depending on the title being contested.

Contact rules

Stoxkarts allows controlled contact racing. In the Juniors it is nudge and spin.

Drivers may use the front bumper to make contact with the car in front in order to gain a legitimate racing position or to spin a kart in the corner.

Spinning on the straights is strictly forbidden.

Follow-ins, over-aggressive driving, reckless driving, or any behaviour deemed to be dangerous to other drivers is not permitted and will be penalised.

Scrutineering

All Stoxkarts are subject to safety and compliance checks before each meeting.

Cars are also checked after races to ensure they comply with the technical regulations, including engine specification, weight, safety equipment and controlled parts.

This ensures fair competition and prevents spending or modification from giving any driver an unfair advantage.

Officials and stewarding

Stoxkarts meetings are run by licensed officials and stewards licenced with the ORC (Oval Racing Council) and they control race procedures, enforce the rules and deal with incidents.

Decisions are made to ensure safety, fairness and sporting integrity, with penalties applied where required.
